Bal a Versailles

Jean Desprez
Bal a Versailles, an evocation of a grand ball in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, was created by Jean Desprez in 1962. The inspiration for the scent may have come from the Fragonard illustration (of period damsels, gathering posies) in the Sevre porcelain museum which was chosen by Desprez himself to adorn the packaging.

At one time one the world's most exotic fragrances, Desprez chose 300 of the world's rarest and most expensive ingredients to create his oriental fantasy, described by him as a "perfume in the grand tradition; a delicate and perfectly crafted beginning which enlivens precious florals, while rich and sensuous woods dry to sweet balsamic finish". We couldn't have put it better ourselves! Desprez incidentally, was a forth generation perfumer - his grandfather F Millot having created the legendary Crepe de Chine in 1925.
