"Malia", in Italian, hints of witchcraft. It means "spell", in the sense of an incantation or magic process; in this case the power a woman has, or can have, over a man who is bewitched and fascinated by her charm.
The Italian perfumer behind this creation, Antonio Alessandria, chose for it's heart an unusual flower, the osmanthus. With a dual nature: refreshing yet sweet, delicate but inebriating, he has dressed it in spices and aromatic plants and given it body with a structure that tells of a feisty female. But he also wanted it to recall that sometimes another person may simply capture us with a look, one that leaves us stupified. Is it magic or simply fate? Does it speak of the alignment of stars or has she something else up her sleeve? Is Malia her love potion?
Intriguingly, and somewhat playfully, Antonio tells us he has added a secret ingredient - an "intoxicating and stupifying" effect; and when we smell the perfume, we are quick to believe him. But is it true? Ultimately, are we under the spell of the perfumer's magic, or is it the wearer's charm that we cannot fight?
