The waning daylight is a gilded invitation to halt in the ochre hills of Tuscany. At this very moment, as the evening reveals fragrances in all their glory, the warm notes of cypress waft from the undergrowth creating an impression of everlasting peace. As the scent of the lemon trees rolls down the hillside, we see a typical Italian landscape: the backdrop and setting to 'Memoirs of Hadrian'.
Originally released in 1981, Eau D’Hadrien was inspired by Annick Goutal’s love for Italy and for Marguerite Yourcenar’s 1956 novel Memoirs of Hadrian. Conjuring up the scent of citrus orchards on a Tuscan summer, it's a picture of languid ease and Bois d’Hadrien returns to where the joyous scent began, with the sparkle of lime amid the wooded lime groves of Italy. With the traces of Annick Goutal’s signature scent in the background, Bois d'Hadrien has new lingering green earthiness of ivy, pine and cypress, and an enchanting and lingering blend of citrus and woods.
