Price: £192.00

Fragrance Category: Aldehydic Floral

Heart Notes: Lilac, muguet, violet, iris, rosebuds
Base Notes: Sandalwood

Released in 1933 and one of the last collaborations between perfumer Ernest Daltroff and his muse Felicie Wanpouille, Fleurs de Rocailles, like all Daltroff's creations, was probably inspired by an actual rock garden familiar to the pair. As an aldehydic floral, Fleurs de Rocailles shares aspects familiar with Chanel 5 (claimed as the first 'aldehydic' perfume although Daltroff was no stranger to aldehydes - he had already been experimenting with them as far back as his creation infini in 1912, nine years before Chanel 5).

A joyful, impulsive perfume, as with all Caron creations, Fleurs de Rocailles remains one of the all time greats of high perfumery which became an overnight sensation, and for several years after its launch was the top selling fragrance in the US.

  • This scent was of course the mystery scent featured in the 1993 film The Scent of a Woman" staring Al Pacino.
