If you only buy scent this year, this is has to be the one. A sensational creation by Elizabeth Doyen and the most haunting to be released by Annick Goutal to date. Invoking the scent of a Japanese garden after the rain (Matin d'Orage translates as "stormy morning") this scent is evocative of unpicked gardenia, while Shiso (also known as Perilla and has a rich smell, green and resinous with a hint of aniseed) adds a Japanese element to the fragrance and gives it an aromatic note.
Creating more mystery and questions than answers, the scent is aquatic and ozonic; floral but non-floral; fruity but non-fruity - what is it? A exquisite labyrinthine journey ! "The idea is to imagine yourself in a Japanese garden - not a Buddhist Zen-type place, but a real garden with lots of greenery - and smell the plants, leaves and white flowers after a storm as the sun creates a scented mist" says Camille Goutal, Artistic Director.
Ingredient note:
Perilla, also known as purple mint or Japanese basil, is an essential oil that provides a strong aniseed type fragrance that can be compared to both mint and fennel. It is a natural aldehyde obtained by steam distillation.
